Nima Dahir CV

I’m an urban sociologist and scholar of race, ethnicity, and immigration. My research focuses on the intersection of race and immigration and how these factors shape neighborhoods and the lives of residents. I’m particularly interested in understanding how Black immigrants are transforming Black neighborhoods and, more broadly, Black America. In addition to my main research focus, I also explore how race and immigration influence various aspects of neighborhoods, such as access to housing, property ownership, the prevalence of surveillance cameras, and physical disorder. I’m also passionate about community-engaged scholarship and serve on the board of Community Refugee & Immigration Services (CRIS).
